Dragon Forum
Showings of the best in contemporary Polish documentary cinema as well as master classes with prominent Polish filmmakers took place throughout a course of specialised film workshops in Moscow. They were particularly focused on films using 3D technology as well as documentary and web-related content
A seminar series on the topic of the international film market as well as a debate between Polish and Russian filmmakers about the art of documentary reality and its portrayal in the media accompanied the project. The academy aims to present the accomplishments of Polish film artists and also allow for young Russian filmmakers to develop their own film ideas in collaborative projects.
From 2005, Dragon Forum led international activities in the fields of documentary film training and marketing. The organisation's annual workshops (which end with proposals put furward during the Krakow Film Festival) are a known brand on the international film market. Dragon Forum has contacts with filmmakers in the Ukraine, Belarus and Russia, which have already led to various film coproductions ('Mam umerla w subotu na kuchne' / 'I Am Monument To Myself', 'Cranberry Island', 'Robinsons of Mantsinsaari').
The Moscow edition of Dragon Forum took place as part of the ArtdokFest – one of the most known Russian documentary film festivals, which provides an ideal opportunity to showcase achievements in Polish documentary film as well as serving as a platform with which to exchange ideas between Polish and Russian filmmakers.
Dragon Forum's director is producer Dorota Roszkowska. She is also the president of the International Assosciation of Future Media. As a previous editor of Polish Television's Channel 2, she collaborated with the European channel ARTE, which led the airing of many documentary films, international debates and meetings being shown in Poland. She is a member of the European Film Academy, the European Documentary Network, the Polish Film Assosciation, the National Audiovisual Producers Network, and a founding member of the New Horizons Association. She also works as a film expert for the European Comission. She has led the firm Arkana Studio since 2003. Her most recent success as a film producer came with 'The Mill and the Cross' directed by Lech Majewski and starring Charlotte Rampling and Michael York.
