Marzena Diakun is the recipient of the Silver Baton in the Grzegorz Fitelberg International Competition for Conductors in Katowice and was awarded second prize in the Prague Spring International Music Festival. Diakun conducts orchestras all around the world. Since 2015, she is the assistant conductor at Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France. She gained international recognition for her rendition of Erich Korngold’s The Dead City, transmitted over French radio and medici.tv.
The São Paulo Symphony Orchestra conducted by Marzena Diakun and with soloist Andreas Staier (piano) will perform the following pieces:
- Concert Overture in E major Op. 12 by Karol Szymanowski
- Piano Concerto No. 17, K. 453 by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart
- The Sleeping Beauty (fragments) by Pyotr Ilych Tchaikovsky
- Alvorada na Floresta Tropical by Heitor Villa-Lobos
Diakun will also perform in Spain in May: Gijon (11th May) and Oviedo (12th May), where she will perform, among others, the Overture for Orchestra by Grażyna Bacewicz.
The concerts are organised with support fromPolska Music, an Adam Mickiewicz Institute programme dedicated to the promotion of contemporary Polish music.
