DagaDana is a unique band on the Polish music scene, not only due to its international make-up and multicultural provenance, but also thanks to the extraordinary music they play, being a fusion of jazz, electronica, Polish and Ukrainian folk. The trio plays traditional folk melodies and their own compositions set to words of traditional songs, modern poetry and their own lyrics. Full of warmth vocal lines sang often through voice processors, bold synthetic sounds, trance-like acoustic bass and children's toys used as instruments is DagaDana's method to flood the listener with sounds that are never boring. This multicultural project will interest everybody who is open for the richness of Slavic soul - wild but mild at the same time. Since its founding in 2008, the band has given over 200 concerts both at home and across the world, appearing - among others - in Asia and South America.
The trio was accompanied by a cameraman who kept track of every step of the band during their one-month Asian tour. The result of the project is a documentary showing how music helps to build bridges between cultures and societies. The DagaDana musicians performed not only in concert halls - they reached out to small villages and hamlets, where, by making music together, they presented their understanding of music and culture, at the same time learning how the culture is perceived in Asian societies and what is the role of the music in local communities. This mutual sharing of traditions was a key element of the trio's tour in Asia.
The Dagadana's Asian tour was organized in cooperation with the Adam Mickiewicz Institute and the Polish diplomatic missions in the region.
