This exceptional line-up is the result of a collaboration between Akbank and Jazztopad, which will feature in its 11th edition several well-known Turkish musicians: Misirli Ahmet, Erkan Ogur and Derya Turkan. Considered the most "open" when it comes to Turkish jazz festivals, the Akbank Jazz Festival will be holding its 24th edition this year between October 23rd - November 1st . Among Poland's biggest jazz festivals, Jazztopad, presents as part of the Akbank Jazz Festival, three contemporary Polish jazz musicians: Marcin Masecki's solo performance will be on October 26th, at 19:00; Maciej Obara International Quartet will be on stage on October 30th at 19:00, and Hera will perform live on October 31st, at 19:00.
26 October - Marcin Masecki
Composer, jazz pianist, and music producer Marcin Masecki will perform live on 26 October, starting at 19:00, at Akbank Sanat. Masecki does not confine his creativity to any one genre of music and his style oscillates between jazz, classical and experimental music. The artist is recognized as a performer of avant-garde and pop music, and isn’t shy to exhibit his versatile musical identity with “wild improvisations” during his concert performances. Marcin Masecki presented an unforgettabe experience for Turkish music-lovers as part of Pera Museum's Young Wednesday series.
30 October - Maciej Obara International Quartet
Maciej Obara International Quartet will perform live on 30 October, starting at 19:00, at Akbank Sanat. Obara's jazz career began with pianist Dominik Wania and entered on a different path after he was invited to Take Five: Europe project during which about a hundred jazz musicians from different European countries. Obara met with Norwegian drummer Gard Nilssen and bassist Ole Morten Vågan at this interesting project, and thus Maciej Obara International Quartet was formed. Maciej Obara International Quartet previously performed at the 21st Izmir European Jazz Festival.
31 October - Wacław Zimpel & HERA
Polish composer and clarinetist Wacław Zimpel is going to take the stage with his project HERA on 31 October, starting at 19:00, at Akbak Sanat. The artist has been critically acclaimed by the most important jazz publications. He is inspired by the rich folk music tradition of his country despite the heavy avant-garde vein in his music.
