A new project between film specialists and film students aims to capture a portrait of the city in film
The World from Dusk till Dawn sees a group of accomplished Polish documentary filmmakers leading student workshops at film schools from seven global cities: Beijing, Minsk, Tokyo, Kiev, Brussels, Warsaw and Moscow.
The aim of the workshop is to produce hour-long documentary films that create a portrait of the city in question. The workshops have been prepared in accordance to the work of Mirosław Dembiński and Maciej Drygas, entitled: Łódź from Dusk till Dawn: an ongoing project with students from Łódź Film School. The project finale is made up of a special presentation created during the film workshops and screenings of selected films in a series entitled Around the World from Warsaw to Brussels.
The Łódź Film School, established in 1948, produces approximately 200 student films annually. Its graduates include acclaimed directors such as Roman Polański, Andrzej Wajda, Krzysztof Zanussi, Jerzy Skolimowski, Robert Gliński, Andrzej Munk, Piotr Sobociński and Krzysztof Kieślowski. The school houses production, editing, script writing, photography, digital technology and tv journalism departments. The Acting department is particularly closely linked to the Film Dept. Its past graduates include Zbigniew Zamachowski, Cezary Pazura, Wojciech Malajkat, Edyta Olszówka and Gabriela Muskała.
