Following its success as part of the 2011 Cultural Programme of the Polish EU Council Presidency, the I, CULTURE Orchestra launches its new edition. Young musicians can apply to join in the project through the ICO’s official website until the 15th of March, 2012
The I, CULTURE Orchestra is a project launched in 2011 by the Adam Mickiewicz Institute as one of the key elements of the Cultural Programme of the Polish Presidency of the EU Council. The Orchestra, led by Sir Neville Marriner and maestro Paweł Kotla, performed in major concert halls, including the Berlin Philharmonic, the Royal Conservatory of Brussels, the Royal Festival Hall in London, and Teatro Real in Madrid.
Drawing on the key objectives of the Eastern Partnership programme, the I, CULTURE Orchestra offers young and talented musicians from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova, Poland, and Ukraine a unique chance to meet.
Following a successful concert tour in 2011, the Orchestra is now planning its next residency and tour with performances in such cities as Lublin, Warsaw, Minsk, Kiev, Chişinău, Yerevan, Tbilisi, and Baku.
The programme of the two-week long residency in Lublin includes masterclasses with musicians from leading orchestras across the world, among them the London Symphony Orchestra, the Philharmonia Orchestra, the London Philharmonic Orchestra and the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra. The I, CULTURE Orchestra will be led by an outstanding emerging conductor from Venezuela, maestro Ilyich Rivas
The deadline for online registrations is the 15th of March. Following the registration, musicians pass through the first stage of auditions, with the preliminary results to be announced on the 2nd of April, 2012 and the second phase of live auditions taking place in Belarus, Moldova, Azerbaijan, Poland, Ukraine, Georgia, and Armenia between the 10th and 21st of April, 2012. Musicians selected to form part of the 2nd I, CULTURE Orchestra will be announced on the 1st of May and begin their residency and tour on the 11th of August, 2012.
