In 2018, the Festival’s programme commemorates the 100th anniversary of the restoration of Poland’s sovereignty and presents masterpieces from various ages. It further makes a feature of Walerian Borowczyk, one of the Polish directors endowed with peerless sensitivity, the works of Polish female directors rising in fame in the world in recent years, and the programme Polish Cinema Now! introducing some of the latest works from Poland.
2018 also marks the 80th anniversary of the director of the Festival, Jerzy Skolimowski, as well as the 85th anniversary of Roman Polański. The screenings of their films will be accompanied by Skolimowski’s commentaries.
During the two-week event, the audience will enjoy the world of Polish films that evolved through the country’s history and continues to pursue its way.
