One of the most talented young Polish electronic musicians was born in 1985 in Stalowa Wola as Daniel Szlajnda. As a teenager, as DJ Taśmy Trzaski, he recorded scratches of recordings by artists such as Grammatik and Eldo's solo projects. He has opened for De La Soul, Jay-Z and Rahzel. He works in Kraków as a DJ. He doesn't only play sets at parties, but also on the Kraków internet radio radiofonia.fm.
His recent works have included remixes of Novika, as well as the duet Rebeka and hip-hop legends Łona/Webber. Earlier Drumz had also worked with material by the Wojtek Mazolewski Quintet.
Daniel Drumz's natural environment is hip-hop. His excellent mixtapes from the Electric Relaxation series (three have been released in recent years) reveal extensive interests – from French hip-hop, dancehall, to calmer jazz, soul, and electronic music.
And this is the direction he took with his Sleepless State Of Mind EP released on vinyl in November 2012 by U Know Me Records. This was already his second. The first – at the beginning of 2011 – was more hip-hop.
His sound is a very low, hard funk built from synthesisers, samples of wind instruments and vocal sounds... Maybe in the future the artist will choose an even greater dance minimalism? He is at such a stage of development where he really cares about the quality of production, because whatever he does, gains a lot of interest. He cannot afford to embarrass himself. He's already heavily present in the West – not only through the efforts of his producer, but also thanks to the concerts he plays.
