Tokyo 09-10.10.2013
One of the most interesting Polish jazz groups - Pink Freud - played twice in the capital of Japan, as part of their Asian tour.
The band played concerts in two Tokyo clubs: Daikanyama UNIT (9th October) and Shibuya O-nest (10th October). This time the musicians were accompanied by a Japanese saxophonist Kadota "Jaw" Kousuke from the well-known PE'Z band.
During their Asian tour the Pink Freud also gave several concerts in Korea, including two at the prestigious Jarasum International Jazz Festival.
Founded in 1998, Pink Freud is one of the most original voices in contemporary jazz and more. Their music goes far beyond the canons of traditional forms of improvisation, in spite of using classical instruments accompanied by the latest electronic musical tools, bordering on different styles from punk and rock, through drum'n bass, jungle and dub to the experimental electronic music. Crossing species boundaries with full awareness, in conjunction with collective improvisation, creates an incredibly energetic music bath for sensitive and intelligent audience, full of subtle melodies. The quartet founded by Wojtek Mazolewski (bass guitar) is created by outstanding instrumentalists and soloists: Tomasz Duda (saxophone), Adam Milwiw-Baron (trumpet, electronics) and Rafał Klimczuk (drums).
Pink Freud has received enthusiastic reviews from the critics, confirmed by countless audiences attending band's numerous concerts at home and abroad, including Japan, Mexico, Chile, Argentina, Peru, Morocco, Germany, Austria, France, Portugal, Italy, Hungary, Sweden, Slovenia, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Ukraine and Romania. The band has scored many prestigious awards, including Record of the Year 2010 at Program 3 of Polish Radio for the album "Monster of Jazz", triple win in the prestigious survey JazzTop of Jazz Forum magazine as the best electric band in 2010, 2008 and 2007, Jazz Oscar awarded by the Jazz Melomani Society, Yach at Yach Film Festiwal 2005 in the category "Other Energy" for the video to the song "Come As You Are", Grand Prix at Yach Film Festival 2007 for the music video to the song "Dziwny Ten Kraj" opening the album "Punk Freud", prize at Northernwave Festival in Iceland for the video to the song "Dziwny Ten Kraj".
