The visit will involve participation in a program proposed by the organizers. The program will be prepared individually based on the participants’ individual needs. The program includes studio visits, speed dating portfolio viewing, and meetings with representatives of the Norwegian art scene.
Oslo Open is an artist-run festival that was established in 2000 by artists and a number of major art institutions in Oslo to give artists an alternative venue to show and an opportunity to be discovered outside the established institutions. Oslo Open is an unmediated event which is what makes it so diversified and as varied as the artists themselves.
Since 2014, the Oslo Open has been organizing an international study visit program, inviting gallerists, curators and collectors from all over the world to explore Oslo’s art scene. In 2015, the international program was expanded to include a ‘speed-dating’ portfolio presentation. This year the speed dating will take place on April 14th and 15th . The jury for the speed-dating program will include: Ruben Steinum, artist and deputy chairman at UKS, Young Artists’ Society, Stina Högkvist, curator at the National Museum of Contemporary Art, and Andre Gali, editor of the online magazine Norwegian Crafts. Since its inception in 2000, there have been 8 editions of Oslo Open. The idea behind Oslo Open was introduced by Gavin Jantjes in 1998.
