Enjoy live music with a classic cocktail and mingle with filmmakers
Flora Caffe isn’t far from Warsaw’s district of Mokotów where the Music Bar, next stop of our journey, is located. The venue does not have a website, but this is a nifty new bar that stands on the corner of Puławska and Olkuska, a street that has changed from a shabby and somewhat forgotten part of Warsaw into a hip place sporting diners and a marketplace. Music Bar serves wonderful classic cocktails. There are outdoor tables from where one can enjoy, thanks to loudspeakers, the live music that is often played inside.
After seeing the new face of Mokotów it might be interesting to see the old one. Within walking distance from Music Bar is Regeneracja, an old-school bar that has been open for many years. Regeneracja, a place frequented by filmmakers, is located at 61 Puławska Street, next to the beautiful Morskie Oko park. The bar’s sizeable patio neighbours this park and is overlooked by the Gothic House, an 18th century neo-Gothic tower with a gate.
Check out artistic photographs while bar-hopping
From Mokotów our trail leads us to downtown Warsaw, to Oleandrów Street, where there is a place called Oleandrów 3. This unpretentious bar is located very close to a few other establishments so when you arrive you might be tempted to do some bar-hopping that’s not included on our itinerary. Oleandrów 3, a newcomer to the Warsaw bar scene, has a small, distinctly urban outside area. Until the 30th of June it will be hosting an interesting exhibition of artistic photographs within the bar’s interior.
Dance in a palace
Oleandrów Street meets Marszałkowska Street, which runs alongside the Palace of Culture. This landmark building is where our next attraction, Bar Studio, can be found. This establishment operates in the foyer of the Studio Theatre, the address of which is Plac Defilad 1, inside the Palace of Culture. Bar Studio is a popular place, where you might encounter a concert or some folks dancing to a DJ set. The bar organizes some of its summer events in its vast outdoor area, which is partially surrounded by the interesting, socialist realist architecture of the Palace of Culture.
Cross the river
The Parade Square isn’t far from the Poniatowski Bridge, which one can take to get to the other side of the Vistula where the Saska Kępa neighbourhood lies. In this neighbourhood it’d be nice to stop by Francuska 30, a local café, which is located, as the name suggests, at 30 Francuska Street. This establishment has a very pleasant patio, which is marked by a number of colourful umbrellas. Francuska 30 takes pride in its excellent coffee and also offers a wide range of wines.
Cool down with a craft beer
Nearby the last stop on our escapade is a café/bar called Klubokawiarnia Towarzyska. The address of this easy-going place is 49 Zwycięzców Street. Here you can choose, amongst others, from a large selection of different craft beers. In front of its entrance this spot has a charming unofficial drinking area, where Klubokawiarnia Towarzyska’s clients often enjoy their beverages. Inside of this establishment there are various events such as concerts and film screenings.
