All About FOOD DESIGN
As part of the celebrations of the 600th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Poland and Turkey, the Adam Mickiewicz Institute, Culture.pl, and Concordia Design, are collaborating on Food Design - a project which consists of study visits, cooking workshops, collaboration on a cooking album, and presentation of the resulting recipes at the upcoming Istanbul Biennial in November 2014.
A Fusion of Tastes, a Fusion of Cultures.
Chefs from Poland and Turkey have been invited to take part in the project, during which they will taste local cuisine, explore new flavours, ingredients and spices, discover native food products, and learn new techniques of food preparation, used in both Polish and Turkish cuisine.
Overall, the Food Design project will be an opportunity for exchanging knowledge and mutual inspiration – Each chef will prepare recipes based on Polish and Turkish culinary traditions. The dozen or so recipes will be fusion dishes, which will truly combine the flavours of both countries.

Most recently between 10-15 July, while at the Concordia Taste restaurant in Poznań, the Turkish chefs attended a group study-visit. They had a chance to sample national delicacies: cheeses, breads, meats, and butter – a product rarely used in Turkey. They also learned about typical Polish food processing methods, such as salting and pickling, and took part in a traditional Polish hunt.

The Food Design project will result in the creation of a culinary album, which will not only record the chefs extraordinary recipes, but also the fascinating stories of their travels, creative collaboration, and inspiring meetings. It will present a combination of the very best of Turkish and Polish cuisine and will be published in English and Turkish. The album will also premiere at the Istanbul Design Biennial in November 2014. A special dinner is also planned during which dishes based on the new recipes will be served.

600 years of Polish-Turkish relations.
The year 2014 marks the 600th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Poland and Turkey. This anniversary is a starting point: a time not only to remember our historical ties, but also an opportunity to begin new relationships on many levels – intellectual, business, cultural, and even culinary.
