This volume contains sketches of widely differing character. There are both reviews and sketches of somewhat forgotten or controversial writers, such as Bobkowski, Haupt or Burroughs, Celiné or Genet, but also texts which are devoted to various social problems, such as pornography or drug addiction.
"This is a book for those who are bored to death by so-called salon literature which discusses the changing fashions and titles of the season, observes itself in the enchanted gaze of the readers of women's magazine. In other words, this is definitely literature for 'the unsophisticated and the hot-headed'; those who, as Zbigniew Herbert teaches us, are in fact the most loyal followers. I would say that the essayist from Czarne will have plenty of these." (Wojciech Stanisławski)
In 2000 the The Cardboard Aeroplane was nominated for the NIKE, the most prominent Polish literary award.
