Experimental propaganda film making an appeal to the average British citizen to become concerned about the growing Nazi terror in the occupied countries.
The starting point were war photographs and documentary films. The photographs and matching pieces of film appear on the screen with flashes of colourful lights. The amorphous narrative, abstract juxtapositions, fragments of historical photographs showing the atrocities of war, the play of surfaces and spots of colour reveal the filmmakers' intention: to accuse the Nazis of their total extermination of culture. ... Themersons' film became a sensation in London film circles and the press went as far as to say that this was the only experimental film made in England during the war.
