Inaugurated in 2014, the project consists of studio visits, workshops and live performances. In line with the goals of Culture.pl’s Campus Project, the aim of There Might Be Others was to build a lasting relationship between Polish and American institutions. Thanks to the collaboration as well as the openness and hard work by students and dancers, an open project was born that allowed for further collaboration and events.
The project began with a studio visit to Poland by Rebecca Lazier, director of the dance program at Princeton University. The visit helped to establish contact with and begin collaboration with key Polish institutions: Dance Theatre Faculty of the Kraków Academy of Dramatic Arts in Bytom, and the Alternative Dance Academy in Stary Browar in Poznań. Rebecca Lazier held workshops with students and dancers at both academies, which resulted in a performance shown in 2015 at the Malta Festival and at Gdańsk Dance Festival. The project's continues as a American-Polish workshop at Princeton University, held between 25th February and 20th March 2016. The culmination of the hitherto collaboration will be the performance of There Might Be Others at New York Live Arts between 16th and 19th March 2016.
New York Live Arts is a non-profit dance organisation in NYC. NYLA commissions, produces and presents dance performances as well provides programmes for professional and artistic development.
The concert is co-organised by Culture.pl as a part of the Campus project.
