Polish composer Rafał Augustyn is the main focus at the Rudersal Summer Concerts 2011 which takes place in several locations around Copenhagen
The second edition of the Danish chamber music festival features leading Danish and international musicians. With last years festival being a great success, this year the programme includes ten outstanding concerts with traditional klezmer music. The festival features music of various eras and styles - from Baroque compositions by Antonio Vivaldi and Georg Friedrich Handel andthe romantic works of Robert Schumann and Johannes Brahms to the latest tracks of the main composers of the festival: Iba Nørholma and Rafal Augustyn. Both composers honored this year are celebrating their birthday - the Dane turns eighty and the Pole sixty. Their music is presented at several concerts.
As well as the compositions by Rafał Augustyn, the Rudersdal Summer Concerts programme also includes the compositions of Polish composer Karol Szymanowski. Two concerts produced for this year's festival present the extremely talented young musicians from the string quartet Airis, winner of the International Competition of Contemporary Chamber Music in Kraków in 2010.

Rafał Augustyn - b. 1951, composer and music critic. Studied composition with Henryk Mikołaj Górecki at the State School of Music in Katowice. Received scholarships from Stichting Eduard von Beinum, Foundation Acanthes, MacDowell Foundation, Salzburg Seminar and Stiftung Kulturfonds. Laureate of many composers' competitions. His compositions have frequently been performed at the Warsaw Autumn and other Polish festivals, as well as in numerous European countries, in America and the Far East.
The music festival takes place from the 28th of July to the 20th of August 2011 in several locations around Copenhagen.
