The Baroque orchestra Arte dei Suonatori was formed in 1993 in Poznań, Poland, by violinists Ewa and Aureliusz Goliński. It has become the most recognised Polish early music ensemble on the international music scene. The orchestra's repertoire exceeds 600 compositions representing a wide range of styles and forms, ranging from 17th century to contemporary music dedicated to Arte dei Suonatori. The ensemble have recorded over 10 CD albums, which won high international acclaim, testified by numerous major awards, such as Gramophone Award, Diapason d’Or, Choc du Monde de la Musique, Luister 10, 10 de Repertoire, Gramophone Editor’s Choice, Gramophone CD of the Month, Classics Today, Prelude orchestral CD of the year. At least forty conductors and soloists have worked with Arte dei Suonatori and inspired their approach, including Martin Gester, Rachel Podger, Alexis Kossenko, Hidemi Suzuki, Eduardo Lopez Banzo, Reinhard Goebel, Dan Laurin, Hille Perl, Roberta Invernizzi, Bolette Roed and Ruby Hughes.
OCTAVA ensemble is a vocal octet considered by Polish music critics to be one of the most interesting vocal groups of the young generation. They quickly established their leading position among other Polish chamber groups. OCTAVA ensemble is a winner of various festivals and contests, and received many prizes, including one of the most prestigious awards in Polish choral art, Grand Prix 39’, “Legnica Cantat” edition. Thanks to the wide interests of OCTAVA ensemble, the group performs every type of music, from Renaissance works to avant-garde coproduction with Krzysztof Penderecki, Aphex Twin (European Culture Congress, Wroclaw 2011), Portishead and Goldfrapp (an opening of new Trance scene on Misteria Paschalia Festival). However, the specialty of OCTAVA ensemble is the 16th and 17th century music. Additionally, the musicians have recently set up the AD RADICES MUSICAE project. With this project, OCTAVA ensemble for the first time has brought back an interpretation of polyphonic compositions which are performed in their natural context. The artistic director of the group is Zygmunt Magiera.
