National Festival Of Polish Country Theatres is “the jamboree” of the most interesting unprofessional theatres that reconstruct old village traditions and customs from different parts of Poland.
The performances give the audience possibility to observe forgotten or no longer used farming activities and rituals. To preserve them is the main aim of the festival.
For its participants the festival is an occasion to gain theatrical experience and skills. Over the years, the groups and their members have transformed a lot. They used to consist of mostly older people but today we can see more and more young actors on the stage. The quality of the plays has also changed thanks to artistic workshops organised by Artistic Council under supervision of Lech Śliwonik. The effects can be seen in screenplays, better acting, dialogs and contact with the audience.
