Łódź of Four Cultures Festival was an interdisciplinary project involving music, theater, literature, visual arts and film.
Events included in the festival programme provided an overview of current and interesting artistic phenomena representing the four cultures forming Łódź in the past: Jewish, German, Russian and Polish. Each of the subsequent editions of the festival followed a central theme around which an interdisciplinary program was built.
The event is held annually in early September and lasts about a week. Łódź of Four Cultures is a platform for cooperation between many groups and institutions, stimulating local initiatives and inviting national and international projects to cooperate.
The idea of the festival draws upon the multicultural tradition of Łódź. Łódź of Four Cultures aims to restore the past happiness to the city and to initiate a discussion, the universal language of which for the duration of the festival is the language of art. Four Cultures of Łódź is also a brand promoting the city of Łódź.
