Four days of spectacular shows and small-scale intimate street performances.
Travelling Theatre Festival is the 'heir' of the International Street Theatre Festival, which was organized from 1983 to 2010.
This festival was supposed to be a way to activate local communities of Lower Silesia. Its main task was to animate a cultural development in local communities, rarely reached by an institutional theatre, where participation in culture was limited to watching TV. It used to have an ambition to change the regional cultural landscape. For several days small towns and villages were filled with noisy, colourful entertainment.
The festival is deep-rooted in the cultural landscape and the region of Jelenia Gora. It’s awaited by locals and also appeals to many tourists. The festival’s programme includes a variety of performances – chamber shows performed by 2-3 actors as well as great performances with a large cast, rich choreography, stilt walkers and jugglers, with the use of vehicles, odd machinery, fire, smoke and music.
The formula has been taken over by the festival in the city of Görlitz, that for 17 years has been organising a similar event in collaboration with the Cyprian Kamil Norwid Theatre.
This year's festival will include a several locations: Gryfów Śląski, Lubań, Lwówek Śląski, Wleń. The following companies from Poland will be presented: Zdrojowy Teatr Animacji, Fuzja, Wagabunda, Cztery Żywioły, KTO, Teatr A. Among the foreign guests one could find: Gregor Wollny, The Four Shops , Die Artistokraten (Germany), The Garden (International Project), Ljud Group (Slovenia), Tercja Pikardyjska (Ukraine), Polyamide Sisters (France), Wurre Wurre (Belgium), Divadlo Kvelb Theatre (Czech Republic) antagon theaterAKTion – Teatro Nucleo (Germany/Italy), La Terra Nuova (Italy).
