The folk-jazz trio Sutari is joining forces with Brazilian musicians to hold a series of workshops, concerts and musical encounters. The group’s residency is part of a Culture.pl project meant to popularise Polish culture in Brazil.
Sutari’s might comes from its three talented vocalists and instrumentalists. For many years, Zofia Barańska, Katarzyna Kapela and Barbara Songin have been active in creating various forms of art: from music and theatre through dance to film. For the last three years, Kapela has worked for the Song of the Goat Theatre in Wrocław. Songin’s main area of interest is physical theatre and choreography, and she has been producing her own shows with the FURU collective. Barańska manages various musical projects in collaboration with the Adam Mickiewicz Institute. They met a few years ago at the Gardzienice Academy for Theatrical Practices, and since then they have been making music together using violins, drums, wine glasses, bottles, knives, graters and even water.
