As part of the Young Wednesdays Concert series, Polish electro artist Soniamiki greets music-lovers in Istanbul. Soniamiki effortlessly combines rhythm, bass and vocals in an unconventional way, creating songs that reflect the taste of 80s. This unconventional fusion of electronic beats has lead to the success of her second album SNMK (2012).
Born in 1982, Zosia Mikucka (a.k.a. Soniamiki) engages in various forms of art alongside music, including graphic design, film production and animation. In addition to writing her own lyrics and composing the music to her songs, Soniamiki designs her own album covers and even produces her own music videos.
Soniamiki also draws for her own blog and is a regular on the Polish fashion circuit. She began her music career playing the soundtrack for a live fashion show with just bass and vocals. In her live performances, Soniamiki effortlessly merges music and art. Actively involved in the production of her music videos, for the single Night Is So Safe Soniamiki released Poland's first interactive music video in 2012.
Pera Museum in Istanbul, in collaboration with Culture.pl, continues to present other key events throughout the year 2014 on the occasion of the 600th anniversary of Polish-Turkish diplomatic relations. The first of the Young Wednesdays Concert series featured Polish pianist, composer and jazz musician Marcin Masecki, who presented an unforgettable musical delight to Istanbul audiences on 26 March 2014. Pera Museum also hosted a series of film screenings by the legendary Polish Film School back in February 2014.
