For the Editionshow, Warsaw’s Raster gallery presents editions by Oskar Dawicki, Aneta Grzeszykowska, Zbigniew Libera, Slavs and Tatars and Karol Radziszewski. Among the works, special attention is paid on Zbigniew Libera’s The Messenger Girl - a hand-crafted portfolio containing 12 photomontages, which combine heroic images from the Warsaw Uprising and erotic figures and faces of twentieth century movie icons.
Additionally, Motto bookshop presents a range of editions by Kasper Andreasen, Sara MacKillop, Jonathan Monk and Erik Steinbrecher, which have been among the several presentations at the bookshop, since its 2008 opening in Berlin.
Berlin’s Chert gallery is dedicating the final part of the year to Editonshow, which is inspired entirely by what is often described as a 'side-production' of the artists, including artists’ editions, ephemera and smaller productions such as albums, artists’ books and cut-outs. The exhibition provides an alternative dialogue among these works, which have come alive in recent years, but still need the right place and time for promotion.
It is worth highlighting that Warsaw’s Raster gallery was established with quite a similar motto. Founded as an extension of existing projects initiated by two art critics, Łukasz Gorczyca and Michał Kaczyński, Raster's independent projects include various innovative series of international art projects presented under the Villa heading. Within the framework of Villa, the Raster pursues creative alternatives to the institutional art market. The gallery's publishing program is similarly focused on the production and distribution of works by affliated artists and other supplementary series dedicated to the cultural identity of Warsaw.
Editionshow at Chert gallery in Berlin can be viewed throughout 15 February 2014. For those who are planning to visit the city during the holiday season, it is worth noting that the gallery will be open only by appointment from December 24, 2013 – January 11, 2014. More details can be found on the gallery's page.
