Between the 17th of September and 2nd of October, Warsaw will host it's 10th Anniversary edition of the International Contemporary Dance Festival "Ciało/Umysł"
As in previous years, the festival will welcome artists from around the world, with a myriad of representatives from countries like South Africa, Ecuador, Belgium, Slovenia, France, Germany, Hungary, Great Britain, USA, Sweden, and Poland. There will be numerous Polish premieres and co-productions, and all together the C/U's spectators will get a chance to see 16 productions.
C/U 2011 also includes an international conference on dance, workshops, film presentations and a chance to meet and speak to the artists. What's more, the festival will also present an exhibition by the renown Peter Pabst.
The theme of this year's festival looks at history from three perspectives: dance from a historical perspective, dance as part of the festival's history, and history (storytelling) as a genre, that looks at the 'narrative' that dance adopts. The C/U program aims to show the transformations in dance in the 20th century, rereading its progress and symbolically closing a particular period which has become part of a broader conception of art history - explains Edyta Kozak, the C/U festival's artistic director.
The C/U's anniversary edition also closes the corporeal tryptic created by Lech Rowiński which became the festival's graphic representation over the past three years. In 2011, the artist inspiration became the motif of a 'lifeline'.
