The jazz band Aga Derlak Trio will open the 6th edition of the Jazz'n Chisinau Festival with a concert at the National Philharmonic in Chisinau on 17th April 2018.
The main idea behind the Jazz'n Chișinău Festival is combining various traditions and creating musical bridges between European countries, and thus, enriching local jazz culture with new inspirations. The festival will be attended by musicians from France, Germany, Poland, Switzerland and Moldova. The Jazz'n Chișinău Festival values Polish musicians – last year the festival invited Tomasz Wendt to be their special guest.
Aga Derlak is a young pianist and composer. She learned with masters of Polish jazz piano Michał Tokaj and Paweł Tomaszewski. She is a laureate of many prestigious awards and is quickly gaining recognition of Polish audiences and the global jazz community.
The Aga Derlak Trio was formed in 2013. The band is made up of Aga Derlak, double bass player Tymon Trąbczyński and drummer Szymon Madej. The band performs original compositions that are the result of numerous inspirations and their own musical experiences. The ensemble is a laureate of the Polish Phonographic Academy Award – FRYDERYK 2016 in the ‘Jazz: Phonographic Debut of the Year’ category.
The trio will play two concerts in Moldova: on 17th April in Chișinău at the Jazz’n Festival and 18th April in Balti. They will play songs from their newest record Healing.
