A solo project of Tobiasz Biliński, a member of the duo Kyst
The sounds of Coldair are delicate, etheric, creating an intimate and hermetic folk feel. Biliński has only one goal - to “expess himself”. In spite of this modesty, his songs are of a decent, international standard, as evidenced by performances at the festivals SXSW (USA) and Eurosonic (Netherlands) or by tours of Western Europe. Biliński’s characteristic high-pitched voice brings to mind Bon Iver, a project of the American Justin Vernon, who conquered the world a few years ago with the acoustic album For Emma, Forever Ago. This year Vernon was a star of the Open’er festival. Another clear inspiration is the mellow side of Phil Elverum’s band Mount Eerie.
In concert Biliński is accompanied by a large band with a horn section. That’s a good thing, and the horn players brought a lot of freshness to last year’s album Far South.
