Chmara.rosinke is a duo of young designers specialising in interior and product design, as well as in constructions that redefine human interactions in public spaces. Mindful of social issues, they create projects that address the problems of everyday life.
Designers specializing in interior and product design.
Ania Rosinke (1985) and Maciej Chmara (1984) met at the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdańsk. They also studied at Akademie der Bildenden Künste and TU in Vienna, and at the Kunstuniversität in Linz. The designers emphasize the importance of detail and sensitivity to the aesthetic aspects of their work. They consider aesthetics to be a significant element of balanced design.
Their projects seem to be dominated by the theme of mobility and ephemeral objects, easy to both assemble and disassemble. They create furniture and solutions for contemporary nomads. Their ironing board, gate-leg table, and multifunctional compact kitchen all take up little space, are easy to move around, and, at the same time, visually engaging.
In 2014, chmara.rosinke produced furniture for the Community Cooking project, co-organized by Caritas and Jamie Oliver. They installed the cooking stands, made out of shelves, on wheels so as to make them fully mobile.
The designers further developed the idea of mobility in one of their most awarded projects: Mobile Hospitality. This portable cart/barrow bears a variety of functions. When set out, it becomes a self-sufficient situation: a sink, burners, a table, and even fresh herbs are enough to create a mobile encounter with hospitality. The kitchen station makes it possible to cook in a chosen space and invite guests to sit at its foldable table. The object is freely movable, as well as simple and casual in form, in the spirit of DIY aesthetics.
The duo has also prepared a modified version of this construction for the clothing company COS. The mobile stand contains drawers, a counter, and a surrounding frame, allowing to present small jewellery and large garments alike. The DIY concept also appears in the You Make it Europe lamp. Its final structure is dependent on the specific combination of the individual elements, making each single copy unique in its own way.
Chmara.rosinke is one of the most awarded Polish design groups. Their thoughtful projects respond to the important cultural and social changes. While catering for uniqueness and mobility, they create objects which perfectly match the needs of modern users.
