In May， 2013 Cracovia Danza Court Ballet company completed their first tour in China. The ensemble appeared at two festivals held in China's capital: Meet in Beijing and The West of Beijing International Art of Performance Festival. They also performed in three other Chinese cities during events being part of Poland Culture Days, organized by the Polish Embassy.
Cracovia Danza Court Ballet, the only professional court and historical dance ensemble in Poland, was founded by Romana Agnel, a talented dancer, choreographer and teacher. In 2006 it was established a Municipal Institution of Culture of the City of Krakow. For many years now the Cracovia Danza Court Ballet has worked on the re-creation of traditional court dances and ballets of different countries and periods, in effect producing dance performances spanning the periods from the Middle Ages to modern times. The Cracovia Danza Court Ballet is recognized both in Poland and abroad. It participates in prestigious opera and ballet productions as well as cultural projects. Besides its artistic activities, the Ballet also pursues its other primary mission which is educational work for all age groups. Teaching the history of dance is carried out through workshops, conferences, publications, lectures and thematic exhibitions. The majority of the Cracovia Danza Court Ballet's performances and artistic undertakings is accomplished in collaboration with distinguished instrumentalists and renowned Early Music Ensembles, such as: 'The Spirit of Gambo' (Hanover, Germany), 'Il Tempo' (Warsaw, Poland), 'Le Concert de l'Hostel Dieu' (Lyon, France), 'La Grande Ecurie Et La Chambre De Roy' (France), 'Ricercar Consort' (Brussels, Belgium), 'Collegium Marianum' (Prague, Czech Republic), 'Consortium Sedinum' (Szczecin, Poland), 'Ars Cantus' (Wrocław, Poland), 'United Continuo Service' (Germany), 'Intrada' (Krakow, Poland) and Maria Pomianowska with her Ensemble (Warsaw, Poland). The Cracovia Danza Court Ballet is also a co-organizer of the Cracovia Danza Court Dance Festival. This event, already well-established on Krakow's calendar of cultural events, is held annually at the turn of July and August. Through its artistic and educational work, the Cracovia Danza Court Ballet acts as a unique ambassador of Polish art and culture on a global scale.
Meet in Beijing Arts Festival is an event on the national level, organized since 2000 by the Ministry of Culture, State Administration of Radio, Film and Television and Beijing Municipal Government, hosted by China Arts and Entertainment Group and Beijing Municipal Bureau of Culture. The festival aims to promote international cultural exchanges by presenting Chinese culture while introducing international arts. Therefore, a huge variety of activities is integrated into the festival including theatre, outdoor galas, art exhibitions, charitable events and specialized seminars that fall into different categories, sometimes hosted by the guest country, otherwise devoted to specific themes. In the past decade, over 1,000 companies and 30,000 artists from 110 countries and regions were featured in the festival, including such prestigious ones as the Bolshoi Ballet and the Royal Shakespeare Company.
