Andrzej Wajda's Wałęsa. Man of Hope will soon be screened in front of the panels that will pass the decision on wether it will be included in the runnings for the next edition of the Oscars.
On December 5th the opening of the European Union Film Showcase will feature a screening of Wałęsa. Człowiek z nadziei (Wałęsa. Man of Hope). Held in Washington D.C., the festival is organised by the American Film Institute. In accordance with the campaigns for the Oscars, beginning on the 7th of November, there were special screenings of the film in Los Angeles exclusively for members of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association as well as judges from the American Academy of Motion Pictures. As reported to the TVP Media Centre by the film’s co-producer, on the 13th of November Wałęsa will be shown at the Caheunga Theatre and on the 22nd of November in the Wilshire Screening Room.

The Los Angeles screening of Wałęsa will occur on the 2nd of December as a part of a special series that presents titles chosen by the editors of the LA Times. In connection with the showing, the film’s lead actor (Robert Więckiewicz) will make an appearance at the venue; one of the most important places in the Hollywood Industry - the Laemmle NoHo Theater. Mark Olsen, film critic for the LA Times, is scheduled to introduce the film to the members of the Academy and follow up the showing by leading a conversation with Więckiewicz.
The announcement of whether the biographical picture of Wałęsa is in the running for an Oscar will be made on Janurary 16th. Its candidacy for a Golden Globe will be announced one month earlier on December 12th.
