Famous for unconventional mix of electronic and folk music, Polish-Ukrainian trio DAGADANA will perform again in Beijing.
The concert at the China International Music Industry Expo and Festival "Sound of the Xity" will be a part of the tour promoting the group's latest album released in February, titled "List do Ciebie" ("Letter to You"). This time, the musicians reached for the poems by a little-known Polish poet - Janusz Rozewicz, whose texts beautifully intermingle with sounds typical for DAGADANA. The group invited American drummer Frank Parker to collaborate on the album and the whole production was taken up by a well-known Polish producer Marcin Pospieszalski. The CD is sold with attached selection of poems by Janusz Rozewicz in Polish, along with their translations to Ukrainian and English. As part of the same tour, the group will also perform in major cities and few towns in Poland.
Concerts in Beijing are for the band a unique opportunity to continue the cooperation with Chinese and Mongolian musicians from the group North Lab Mongolia Experimental Music. Both bands are planning rehearsals and entering the recording studio together. During the DAGADANA's Asian tour in 2013 they performed at the Polish Embassy in Beijing. The concert, broadcasted by the China Radio International (CRI), was very well received by critics and the media.
DAGADANA is a unique band on the Polish music scene, not only due to its international make-up and multicultural provenance, but also thanks to the extraordinary music they play, being a fusion of jazz, electronica, Polish and Ukrainian folk. The trio plays traditional folk melodies and their own compositions set to words of traditional songs, modern poetry and their own lyrics. Full of warmth vocal lines sang often through voice processors, bold synthetic sounds, trance-like acoustic bass and children's toys used as instruments is DAGADANA's method to flood the listener with sounds that are never boring. This multicultural project will interest everybody who is open for the richness of Slavic soul - wild but mild at the same time. Since its founding in 2008, the band has given over 200 concerts both at home and across the world, appearing - among others - in Asia and South America. In 2013, with the support of the Adam Mickiewicz Institute, DAGADANA took an extensive tour including Malaysia, China, Indonesia and Singapore.
