The collection entitled Poesía a contragolpe. Antología de poesía polaca contemporánea features works by authors born between 1960 and 1980. With a total of 480 poems from 61 authors from Poland, it is the largest anthology of Polish poetry to be released in a foreign language
Some of the noteworthy names presented in the collection include: Jarosław Mikołajewski, Marcin Świetlicki, Eugeniusz Tkaczyszyn-Dycki, Adam Wiedemann, Tomasz Różycki, Julia Fiedorczuk, Krzysztof Siwczyk, Tadeusz Dąbrowski, Marta Podgórnik and Jacek Dehnel.
The new Spanish edition of contemporary poetry by young Polish authors was released by the publishing house of the Uniersity of Saragossa, and it is the fruit of Xavier Farré’s long-term efforts as a translator of Polish poetry. Farré is known for his transcriptions of such Polish classics as Zbigniew Herbert, Czesław Miłosz and Adam Zagajewski. The collection also features translations from Gerard Beltrán and Abel Murcia, who have previously rendered the verses of Szymborska, Różewicz, and, most recently, poetry from Ryszard Kapuściński into Spanish. Abel Murcia is also himself a poet, and he is the head of the Cervantes Institute in Kraków.
The anthology is accompanied by an introduction, in which Xavier Farré sketches out the main trends and schools in Polish poetry, as well as brief biographical notes of all the presented poets.
Poesía a contragolpe was published with the support of the ©Poland translation programme, and it enjoyed its first launch during the annual Feria del Libro de Zaragoza - a book fair which took place in Saragossa between 1-10 June, 2012.
