The title of the project, Ultraleve (Ultralight) describes the type of a plane that the artist used to document his work. When drifting up in the air, he became its very first viewer. However, the observed “plane” resting on the ground, demonstrates, instead of the lightness implied in the title, a semiotic burden of the interpretation that comes to mind.
The project was created as part of the exhibition Aberto Brasilia, prepared by Wagner Barja, the director of Museu Nacional do Conjunto Cultural da Republica in Brasilia for the Centro Cultural Banco do Brasil. Some of the other artists working on projects in the city's public space included: Cildo Meireles, Soeren Dahlgaard, Geert Vermeire, and Stefaan van Biesen.
The project was financially supported by the Adam Mickiewicz Institute.
