HOTEL "POD ANIOŁEM" / "THE ANGEL" HOTEL is a developed version of the staging, which was created in May 2000 as a fragment of a project called EUROPE/ HOTEL EUROPA, prepared for the Wiener Festwochen Festival of Theatre in Vienna.
The staging is a theatrical impression about learning life through love. A lost and desperate woman (Joanna Kasperek) enters a room with an intention of committing suicide. Suddenly a man (Grzegorz Artman) appears beside her. The beginning of their contact is not easy, the woman is distrustful and hostile. She slowly gets used to the stranger's presence and has nothing against him teaching her to... speak. She repeats after him several simplest words, which become her private door to calmness and acceptation. These are the only words audible on the stage during the show.
"THE ANGEL" HOTEL / HOTEL "POD ANIOLEM", written and directed by Piotr Cieplak, scenery designed by Andrzej Witkowski, music by: Pawel Czepulowski, Jacek Fedorowicz. Premiere: September 30, 2001 at the Contemporary Theatre (Teatr Wspolczesny) in Wroclaw.Culture.pl
