Magdalena Heliasz, the creator, designer, and editor of Print Control writes in the introduction to the newest issue:
A bloom of cultural activities that is visible in Poland over the past few years brought an evolution in visual communication projects and publications and at a certain point their temporary overproduction. Polish designers have finally stopped comparing their work with the Western patterns and missing the unaccomplished order and have started to participate in the creation of visual space that transgresses local frames and engages in international projects attracting creative partners to benefit from the capabilities of the Polish market. We can conclude that Polish designers, who sense the lack of quality and security of the surrounding reality, seek the source of the problem in poor quality work or egocentric way of thinking of the designers. What is important, those people are determined to build a rational visual communication in their native country as well, taking local problems into account.
Since 2011 Print Control has also existed as a website on which Polish printed projects and interesting graphic, topographic, and technical solutions are publicized. One can also find information about graphic design events there.
The premiere of the fourth issue of Print Control will take place on 19 March 2016 at 6pm in the Bookoff bookstore in the Museum of the Modern Art in Warsaw. During the meeting, apart from an exhibition of selected graphic projects, a discussion titled ‘In the direction of critical education’ with a participation of Marcel Kaczmarek, Maria Jeglińska, and Krzysztof Pyda will take place. The talk will be conducted by Kaja Kusztra.
