One of Julian Antoniszczak’s last films A Light in the Tunnel is a highly personal and unsettling exploration of what happens after death, yet not without a dose of perverse humour.
The protagonist dies and, as the doctors attempt to resuscitate him, the man begins to walk towards the light, hoping to escape death. Antonisz presented this film at the International Short Film Festival in Oberhausen, to which he travelled with a copy that still had no soundtrack. During the projection, he played the piano and created live sound effects. The film received the Jury Award of the International Federation of Film Societies. This was the only time he was directly involved in the presentation of one of his hand‑painted and -drawn film works to an audience.
