Agnieszka Smoczyńska's debut feature The Lure has won three prizes during the 36th International Film Festival Fantasporto. The Polish musical received the awards for Grand Prix Best Movie, Best Direction and Best Special Effects.
In her first-time weird, wild, 1980s-set musical horror film Agnieszka Smoczyńska creates a world saturated in color and Europop slickness that twists with absurdity and drips with blood. The Lure is a concealed feminist fable addressed to fans of Tarantino rather than Walt Disney.
Two films directed by Poles will take part in World Cinema Dramatic Competition and World Cinema Documentary Competition at the Sundance Film Festival 2016. Among 65 films in the competitions there are the feature The Lure by Agnieszka Smoczyńska and the documentary All These Sleepless Nights by Michał Marczak.
