The gallery's main area of interest is contemporary photography from all over the world with special consideration for Central Europe
The "pf" gallery was founded in 1993 by Janusz Nowacki, who managed the gallery's programme till 2004. Its curriculum is encoded in the name "pf" which stands for "poznanie fotografii" (getting to know photography), "profile fotografi" (the profiles of photography) and "promocja fotografii" (promoting photography).
An important part of the programme is the introduction and presentation of prominent Polish and world photographers (Antanas Sutkus, Bogdan Konopka, Eva Rubinstein, Jan Saudek, Luis Gonzales Palma, Pertti Kekarainen). Their works create an insight into the most interesting trends in contemporary photography. The gallery also familiarises audiences with the history of photography and the works of the artists who greatly contributed to the development of this field. The exhibitions organised by "pf" showcase the works of Henri Cartier-Bresson, André Kertész, Robert Doisneau, August Sander, Jacques-Henri Lartigue, W.H. Fox Talbot, Jan Bułhak, Roman Ulatowski, Josef Sudek, Arno Fischer, Willy Ronis, the legacy of the German artistic and commercial photography at the turn of the 19th and 20th century and the works from the Bauhaus school of fine arts.
Apart from exhibitions, "pf" also organises meetings with authors and critics, workshops and engages in various activities to promote photography.
"pf" is housed in the renovated cloister on the first floor of the Centre for Culture "Zamek" in Poznan.
