The 4th edition of the "Two Riversides" Festival at Kazimierz Dolny and Janowiec nad Wisłą will feature over 110 short films from Cannes, Venice, Berlin, Rotterdam, San Sebastian, and Sundance and judged by members of the audience. This year's event comes under the enigmatic theme of "Another World"
The first section of the "Dwa Brzegi / Two Riversides" festival is the "In the Short Run" competition of more than 50 shorts carefully selected at different film festivals in Kraków, Rio de Janeiro, Rotterdam, Berlin, Cannes, Gdynia, Transylvania, Clermont-Ferrand, Locarno, Tallin, Gotteborg. Audiences will have an opportunity to see Ying Liang's Condolences, the winner of the Tiger Awards Competition for Short Films at the International Film Festival in Rotterdam, and Sarah Wood's Only for Cultural Purposes, also featured at the festival in Rotterdam.
Among the films featured within this section there are nominees and winners of the 2010 Academy Awards, such as Francois Alaux's Logorama, winner of the Academy Award for the Best Animated Short Film, is a story of a world of logotypes in which policemen - Michelin man figurines - are trying to catch a criminal named Ronald McDonald.
The festival will also features Bartek Kulas' film Millhaven, which was awarded the Silver Hobby-Horse at the last Kraków Film Festival. It is the story of Loretta, a heroine in the dark ballad sang by Nick Cave. Another film at the "riverbank" is Incident By a Bank, directed by Ruben Ostlund and honoured at the festivals in Kraków and Berlin. Made using only one camera, this engrossing film captures the viewers' attention and allows them to observe how people react in unexpected situations.
Hanoi-Warsaw*, a 35-mm short film directed by Katarzyna Klimkiewicz, was the only Polish short feature film that qualified for the international competition at the Kraków Film Festival. It also received a nomination for the European Film Award in the Best Short Film category. The picture tells a story of a young Vietnamese girl who crossed the Polish border illegally. The film's director will be a guest at the festival.

Marek Skrobecki's puppet-animated short, which qualified for the competition at the International Animation Festival in Japan – Hiroshima 2010, and was featured at the festivals in Edinburgh and Kraków.
Richard Martin-Jordan's documentary film entitled God is American, a moving and incredible story of one tribe worshipping an American soldier who was once stationed on the island during World War II.
Sophia Tzavelli's medium-length documentary, Hotel Paradise, which takes audiences into the reality of a Bulgarian province where the time seems to have come to a halt.
This year, shorts created by young directors will be featured before full-length films presented in three sections: "Great Cinema in the Small Market Square", "Music My Love" and "I Love Cinema". The festival's Independent School and Amateur Short Films Competition is an opportunity for young independent authors and students from art departments to take their first steps into the world of film production.The Festival gives them a chance to gain recognition and present their work on the big screen. Their films will be assessed by the Independent Juries for three prizes - one main and two distinctions - for best short films. The Jury consists of people spontaneously chosen from the audience of the Festival - not connected with the film industry. The 20 members of the Jury will watch their first competition films on Sunday, August 1, and the results of the Competition will be announced on Saturday, August 7 at the Closing Ceremony of the festival.
"Two Riversides" will also feature a retrospective of films by Polish director
Lech Majewski, (Basquiat and Wojaczek (aka Life Hurts), as well as a Carl Th. Dreyer retrospective of films like The Passion of Joan of Arc and Vampire.
