Requiem. Missa pro defunctis is one of the most outstanding works in Polish music of the 20th Century. It took 15 years to create, from 1944 onwards.
Under the crushing impression of the magnitude of human suffering and the sea of spilt blood, towards the end of the Second World War I decided to compose a work that would become one of many reasons to perpetuate the message of the tragic nonsense of war within the human consciousness. "Requiem" is dedicated to the victims of human ignorance, firstly the memory of those lost in the wars of all time
Roman MaciejowskiFrom the moment it premiered, the monumental work made a great impact on audiences thanks to its dignified and masterful use of musical and emotional expression. A number of the most talented Polish singers are part of the production (Iwona Hossa, Ewa Marciniec, Konrad Włodarczyk, Jarosław Brekoraz), accompanied by the
Philharmonic Choir conducted by Tomasz Bugaj (winner of the Bristol competition in 1978). The commemorative concert takes place on both December 10 at 19:30 and December 11 at 18:00.
