Mural made by children and Eltono at ul. Mała 6
Children from Poland and Ukraine turn Warsaw into a street-art gallery with huge murals inspired by the Euro 2012. This way - EURO the social way is an idea to get even those who won't watch the matches involved in the event
Ten international artists inspire and guide kids from Poland and Ukraine who have been taking part in various artistic workshops since December 2011 to create six murals in different Warsaw location. Referring to the Euro 2012 and the ancient tradition of linking sports and arts, the project aims to spread the cheer and high-spirited emotions surrounding the football event to all of Warsaw's inhabitants and visitors.
As of April 17th 2012 kids from the association Pedagogy and Social Animation Group (Grupa Pedagogiki i Animacji Społecznej) have been painting their interpretations and impressions on walls all around Warsaw together with international street-art artists Eltono from France, Diegomiedo from Italy, Wulfius Dmytro from the Ukraine and Clever, FRM KID, Mrufig, Otecki, Szum and Massmix from Poland.
Together with Eltono, the kids encoded words and expressions like Praga, Legia, I don't know in an alphabet which they came up with at ul. Mała 6. The giant duck at ul. Brzeska 14A was entirely designed by the children with only a little help from Diegomiedo. Under the watchful eyes of the Massmix Group, a three dimensional painting is coming to life at ul. Frycza Modrzewskiego 25 and 26. There, the kids will also be making laser graffiti with the use of a photo camera and playing old video games whose image will be projected on the walls of the building. This Way! culminates with a work at ul. Inżynierska 5 on June 7th.
This way is a partner project put to work with the Ukrainian capital. The Polish children had the opportunity to visit Kiev and do street art with Ukrainian artists as did the Ukrainian kids in Warsaw. The project was initiated by the Cultural Bureau of the City of Warsaw Office and put into action by the Pedagogy and Social Animation Group and the Vlep[v]net Foundation known for promoting art in public spaces.
