Paweł Grobelny participated in Paris Design Week’s section called Now! Le Off 2013 with an avant-garde project. His table attracted the attention of the judges and was chosen by voters for the Rado Star Prize award.
Grobelny has shown Sur Le Fil, an original series of minimalist tables, at the group exhibition at the Centre for Design and Fashion – Les Dock–en–Seine. His contribution was among the nine chosen by a jury chaired by Japanese designer Jun Yasumoto. It was included in the list of nominees the public could cast their votes for until the 12th of September. The minimalist table received 5,355 votes. Second place went to Clement Brazille with 2,466 votes, and Violaine D'Harcourt came third with 1,852 votes.
The Rado Star Prize was created to support young artists and designers from around the world for their innovative and original projects. Often serving as a springboard for their career, the awards are given to undiscovered talent and their winning designs are promoted. The prize consists of two awards. The first is chosen by a jury of professionals and the winner is awarded 5,000 euro. The second is chosen by the public through a vote and all participants who exhibit projects in Now! Le Off are automatically included in the running. Paweł Grobelny was awarded a Rado watch.
