Upcoming:
WaMD (Words and Music Destroyer) by In Between
22 November, 2014 , starting at 20:00, at Salon IKSV
In Between's new project WaMD is a multidisciplinary performative concert where musicians are set and conducted on stage just like musical instruments. The libretto is based on quotes from Human, All Too Human by Friedrich Nietzsche. The choreography is combined with video art and custom-made musical instruments, used in an innovative and manipulative way. The idea behind the performance is to transform, develop and formally manipulate established archetypes in order to create a new world of meanings and associations. In every aspect of the performance, the artists Cezary Duchnowski, Paweł Romańczuk, Kostas Georgakopulos, Kamil Biedrzycki and Justyna Skoczek intend to disturb and provoke the audience by engaging different tactics to break their comfort zone and agitate their subconscious space.
In Between's new project WaMD will be the continuation of In Between MADD, which was realized by Polish and Swiss artists in 2011.

Past Performances:
Istanbul
14 May, 2014 - Two groups from Poland (The Kurws and Pole) and two Turkish bands (Haossaa and The Ringo Jets) are to perform at the Babylon Club. Following the release of their second DIY–style album this year, The Kurws will present their energetic, loud, and intense brand of rock music. They showcase familiar modes of playing, motives, and riffs in a radically different context, using them in distilled and deconstructed manner.
As for the trio Pole, formed in 2012, they improvise their music with drums, clarinet and bass guitar. The group is highly influenced by traditional Polish music, afrobeat, and klezmer music, as well as contemporary independent electronic sound art, and will release their first album this year. The Ringo Jets is an exciting young band rising on the local Turkish music scene. They play spectacularly loud, impassioned, and impressively skilful rock'n'roll. Consisting of bass guitar and drums, Haossaa is a remarkable noise band from Istanbul that can cause real damage to your ears after a live show.
15 May, 2014 - Performing at Arkaoda are Wut and HaZaVuZu. Made up of one Polish, one Turkish, and one Italian musician, Wut pushes the boundaries of improvised music by combining bass, clarinet, drums, electronics, and utensils with the sounds of the human body and the environment. HaZaVuZu is a band or, rather, an artist collective that not only creates highly improvised music, but also has a unique approach to set design. They bring their own handmade ornaments to the venue to create a unique experience for the audience.
18 May, 2014 - Avant Art's final sound spectacle is The Table by Karbido at Garajistanbul. Formed in 2004 in Wrocław, the interdisciplinary artistic group mainly focuses on experimental music which creates an unforgiving experience. With the assistance of carpenters and sound designers, the artists transformed a piece of furniture into a versatile instrument. The result is a table stuffed with ultra sensitive devices capable of detecting and amplifying the most delicate vibrations and transforming them into sounds to create an electrifying hour-long concert. Karbido have given more than 300 concerts at different music and theatre festivals and stages around the world and have received several awards.
Izmir
25 May, 2014, starting at 20:00 - Embodiment of Absence Body at the PortIzmir Triennial, with the collaboration of K2 Contemporary Art Gallery.
Embodiment of Absence Body premiered in Izmir, at the space of Portizmir International Triennal on the 5th floor. This performance aimed to establish a space of equal collaboration between movement, sound and image, each enhancing the others and leading the viewer beyond the obvious and the known. The idea behind the project was to intertwine movement practices, live video, and live music to create a journey leading under the surface of what is visible, and thus expand the body as we know it into a network of unfamiliar potentialities. The performance was a result of the collaboration between artists representing different countries and different artistic fields - (dancers: Aleksandra Osowicz (PL), Cansu Ergin (TR), media artist: Noka (FR), musicians: Tomasso (IT) and Paweł Kulczyński (PL).
The event is organized as part of the cultural program of the 600th anniversary of Polish-Turkish diplomatic relations. Als supported by the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage of the Republic of Poland.
