Norberg, a mining town in central Sweden, has hosted a festival dedicated to all genres of electronic music since 1999, from techno and drum and bass, through dub step, to ambient and experimental. This year’s edition includes performances by DJ Storm, legendary British d’n’b DJ, Cosmin TRG, Lorenzo Senni, Lena Willikens and dozens of other artists. Two Polish names appear in the line-up as well: Zamilska and Jacaszek.
Natalia Zamilska, born in 1989 in Zawiercie, decided to enter the world of electronic music at the age of 15. She is a self-taught musician. In 2014 her debut album Untune was released and was well-received by both critics and audiences. Zamilska performs in small venues and at major festivals both in Poland and abroad. Her techno music draws on dirty industrial themes and ethno music. Her remixes include, among others, Rita Pax (with singer Paulina Przybysz), the Dumplings, and Natalia Fiedorczuk. Her music has also been a part of a fashion show by Dior.
Michał Jacaszek is a composer, multi-instrumentalist, arranger, and one of the most interesting ambient musicians in Poland. His discography is composed of 7 completely different albums, from Lo-fi Stories, a mixture of electronics and samples from recordings of old children’s stories, through Kompleta, where a string quartet, two soloists and electronics take on a breviary prayer, to Pentral, the voice analysis of the atmosphere of gothic churches. In 2014, Jacaszek and Kwartludiom released an album on the Touch label and in 2015, along with Tomasz Budzyński and Mikołaj Trzaska, Jacaszek recorded an album inspired by Rimbaud’s works.
Norbergfestival 2015 runs 30.07 - 01.08. The Polish Institute in Sweden is a partner of the festival.
