The Budapest Showcase Hub will offer the opportunity for music professionals, music fans, bands and audiocrats to connect, immerse and discover the potentials of the region’s music industry. It is an event for regional representatives of the profession - management, labels, clubs, festival organisers - for brands and content providers and, last but not least, for music lovers: everyone who would like to learn about the latest regional trends and listen to concerts by the most cutting-edge performers in CEE.
BUSH’s aim is to show the vibrant and creative music scene of Eastern Europe in a progressive way. The festival has an international focus. The goal of the creators is to offer a regional Eastern-European music experience that leads to better regional self-recognition opportunities, and represent an Eastern-European 'Best Of' selection for representatives of the global music scene. Overall. it will widen the opportunities of the regional music industry by putting upcoming talents on the map of the global music industry – by using regional events.
Brodka
Monika Brodka started her career by winning the Polish TV competition Idol. Known for her unique brand of 'folk power with punk energy', she's now one of the most acclaimed young Polish recording artists, brandishing success on all fronts - gold records, critical praise and industry awards. Her third album Granda scored her eight nominations and three wins at the 2011 Fryderyk Awards, Poland's answer to the Grammys. In 2012, Brodka was nominated for the MTV European Music Awards. Her fashion sense too has made her a style icon, as featured in many major magazines. The key to her success is her fresh experimental approach to pushing the envelope on commercial pop without alienating the masses.
Buslav
Buslav is a Polish multi-instrumentalist, composer and songwriter who lived as a session musician in New York for some time. His experience prepared him well for his solo career. He returned to Warsaw to release his first solo album and from there got a foothold in Europe. His songs are drawn-back chamber pop. Buslav’s lyrics revolve around the ups, downs and feelings of this outstanding philanthropic musician.
Coals
Coals is not another typical ‘electronic duo from Poland’ or the next band the journalists have great hopes for. Even before their debut album was released, Kasia and Łukasz had caught the attention of a big group of fans, organisers from the most important Polish festivals, and professionals from the British magazine The Quietus and the American radio station KEXP.
Why is BUSH a special event?
Unlike many showcase festivals, BUSH puts its focus on representing the whole CEE region and not just a single country. One of its main agendas is to strengthen and widen the regional market and regional co-operations by organising workshops, professional panels and talks. Through the scope of the professional workshops and talks, the organisers' goal was to be proactive and progressive. Among the themes, there are digital workshops, educational programmes and glimpses into the trends of the live music business of the region.
BUSH is going to take place in Budapest, one of the most exciting and vibrant capitals in the region, which makes it a perfect place to show the diversity of the CEE music scene. The centre of BUSH is the Gozsdu Courtyard. The famous Budapest entertainment district is a core quarter for representing the various kinds of entertainment the city can offer: concert venues, so-called ruin pubs, bars, restaurants, hotels, history and culture all in very close proximity.
