Kamp! is perhaps the most recognisable names of the lot, making the international festival and concert circuit over the past two years, with mtviggy.com describing their music as "sonic concoctions" that are "decadent, packed with feel good grooves and winsome beats that sound just as appealing in your headphones the day after as they do in a crowded nightclub". Their nostalgic sound that marries The Cure's Robert Smith to New Order's Bernard Sumner, set against rock and electro instrumentals that sport hints of The Maccabees, Arctic Monkeys and Metronomy. The result is a brand new sound that can clearly run with the best. Last year the band was singled out as among the ten best international performers by Peter Mersey of Liverpool Echo. They take the stage in Liverpool and also make an appearance at the Parr Street Studios as part of the Grammy Studio One prize.
Kamp!'s compatriots in Liverpool include Ed Wood, a noise-rock duo from Bydgoszcz. Their music is based on complex guitar and drum parts that set the background for dizzying indie rock vocals and make for a unpredictable live performances/happenings. The band was founded in 2004 by Kuba Ziołek (also known as TMWWTH from Tin Pan Alley) and Tomek Popowski (also known as the drummer for George Dorn Screams). The two have built up an absurdist musical legacy with ludicrous pseudonyms (Sam Waterston and Oleum), bizarre interview etiquette and an album titled Anal Animal. The band is best known for its unpredictable live performances that often push the envelope of good taste to its outer limits. Last year they performed at Barcelona's Primavera Sound.
Twilite, a Polish band formed in 2006, sets its bets on a balanced combination of two acoustic guitars and two vocalists to devise haunting melodies. They’ve released 2 full length albums so far, attracting audiences with a blend of melancholy, sensitivity and an elusive aura, pickled with sudden explosions of noisy, dissonant chords. They have performed at some of the biggest European festivals: Open’er Festival in Gdynia and OFF Festival in Katowice. In 2012 they were invited to perform at many showcases around the world, including the legendary SXSW Festival in Austin, Texas, Europavox Festival in France, Waves Vienna Festival in Austria, Glimps Festival in Belgium.
Skubas (Radosław Skubaja) has collaborated with the avant-garde of the Polish musicians, finally releasing his debut album in 2012. His single has made it to the top of the most influential chart in his native Poland. Skubas combines rough, intriguing guitar riffs, with deep, emotional vocals. His music is very diversified as a result of his inspirations mainly in grunge, indie folk and rock. Performing with a five-man band Skubas considers music a journey back to the roots, to analog sounds and honest heart-deep lyrics.
