Pianist Piotr Anderszewski gives a piano recital at the Théatre des Champs-Elysées. The programme features works by Jan Sebastian Bach (English Suites No. 5 BWV 810 and No. 6 BWV 811) and Robert Schumann (Six Pieces in Canonic Form op. 56, Novelettes op. 21 No. 5 and 6)...
Anderszewski is regarded as one of the most outstanding musicians of his generation, he started to play the piano at the age of six. He studied at conservatories in Lyon and Strasbourg, at the University of Music in Warsaw and at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles. He developed his skills in master classes held by Fou Ts'ong, Murray Perahia and Leon Fleisher in Italy.
Anderszewski's performance of Ludwig van Beethoven's 33 Variations on a Waltz by Anton Diabelli in C Major at the 1990 Leeds International Piano Competition opened the doors to his debut at the Wigmore Hall in London, and to an international career. He has performed with leading orchestras, such as Berlin Philharmonic, London Symphony Orchestra, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, Boston Philharmonic Orchestra, and NHK Symphony Orchestra. He has played both in Europe and the United States, he also performs as a chamber musician.
The pianist has recorded over a dozen CD records with the music of Johann Sebastian Bach, Ludwig van Beethoven, Anton Webern, Karol Szymanowski, etc. His most recent recording, devoted to solo works by Robert Schumann, was released November 2010.
