The great Polish composer premieres premieres his latest piece at the National Philharmonic in Warsaw
The worked entitled Powiało na mnie morze snów... - pieśni zadumy i nostalgii" / "The Sea of Dreams Rushed Over Me - Songs of Reflection and Nostalgia for soprano, mezzosoprano, baritone, choir and orchestra is a sixty minute-long composition set to texts written by illustrious Polish poets - Stanisław Korab-Brzozowski, Zbigniew Herbert, Tadeusz Miciński, Cyprian Kamil Norwid, Kazimierz Przerwa-Tetmajer, Leopold Staff, Aleksander Wat, Kazimierz Wierzyński.
The piece has been commissioned by Fryderyk Chopin National Institute. The Premiere of Krzysztof Penderecki's new piece officially closes the commemorative Chopin Year.
The piece premieres at the National Philharmonic on January 14, 2011, performed by Sinfonia Varsovia, National Philharmonic Choir (under Henryk Wojnarowski) and Wioletta Chodowicz (soprano), Agnieszka Rehlis (mezzosoprano) and Mariusz Godlewski (baritone) - all performing under the baton of Valery Gergiev.
