The tour is promoting the band's latest full length release Live in China. The album was recorded during the Shenzhen's Oct-Loft Festival, where the band performed in October 2017, greatly received by the Chinese audience. Limited digital edition of the album will be available for distribution during the tour.
The 2017's tour was a breakthrough for the band. Our last Chinese experience has had a big impact on the band's current musical style and energy. We started to create much more brave improvisations, which has led us to yet undiscovered realms of electronic, trance and ambient music. The album is in some way a declaration of a new artistic path for the MM3 – says Michał Milczarek, the band's leader.
Michał Milczarek Trio (MM3) is one of the most interesting young bands on the Polish jazz scene. The group creates instrumental music which is a combination of modern jazz, electronic and rock. The band is known for a very intense concert activity and their performances are considered to be extremely spontaneous, with the band presenting jazz from an extremely contemporary perspective. MM3 will be performing in China in a regular and following line up: Michał Milczarek on guitar, Bartek Łuczkiewicz on bass and Mateusz Modrzejewski on drums.
MM3 has performed at many prestigious festivals in Poland, but also in China, Germany, Scotland, Ukraine and Vietnam. In 2014 the band won the competition Jazz Phonographic Debut of the Year in Poland. They have released four records: The Big Game (2012), Squirrels and Butterflies (2014), Ambient Works (2016) and Live in China (2019).
Michał Milczarek Trio (MM3) tour is part of the Jazz Po Polsku Live in China 2019 project and is supported by the Adam Mickiewicz Institute, Polish Institute – Cultural Section of the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Beijing, Consulates General of the Republic of Poland in Chengdu and in Guangzhou and Plateaux Foundation.
