The concert, emphasizing the relationship between Poland and Chopin as well as the competition, was held on the occasion of an official state visit by President Andrzej Duda to China. The president also participated in a ceremony of donating a bust of Fryderyk Chopin to the Beijing Concert Hall. The concert in Beijing was an event concluding the first official visit of President Andrzej Duda to China.
Chopin music lovers in China will later have a unique opportunity to hear the winner of the 17th International Fryderyk Chopin Piano Competition in the same venue – Korean pianist Seong-Jin Cho will perform at the Beijing Concert Hall on 12th December 2015.
The concert in Beijing was not the first event organised by Culture.pl in connection with the official visit of the President of the Republic of Poland in Asia. On 19th December 2011, during the visit of former Polish President Bronisław Komorowski in China, Culture.pl co-organised a concert of the Warsaw National Philharmonic Orchestra at the National Center for the Performing Arts in Beijing with the participation of famous Chinese pianist Lang Lang. The concert was also the finale of the 2011 Polish EU Presidency's Cultural Programme in Beijing.
