Polish films will be screened throughout the main exhibition Distant Neighbour, Close Memories, accompanied by discussion forums attended by leading directors of contemporary Polish cinema, Krzysztof Zanussi and Dorota Kędzierzawska.
The schedule kicks off on 08 May with a screening of Krzysztof Zanussi’s legendary film The Illumination (1972), as well as a panel discussion with the director himself will take place on 08 May, at 17.00.
The screening schedule will continue throughout May with a showing every three days of with various titles from both directors.

The programme will conclude with a screening of Dorota Kędzierzawska’s Time to Die (2007), followed by a panel discussion with the director on 28 May, at 17.00.
In addition, the SSM hosts concerts by musicians from Poland and educational workshops for children. The Museum’s Changa Restaurant will continue its series of menus on the theme of the current exhibition, which began with the Rembrandt, Monet and Anish Kapoor exhibitions. This time, the restaurant is presenting a menu inspired by Poland's traditional foods and cooking techniques.
Polish film has been on view in Turkey this year with an extensive retrospective on Krzysztof Kieślowski at Istanbul Modern, as well as screenings of the Polish Film School at the Pera Museum earlier in February.

Events are organized as part of the cultural framework celebrating the 600th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Poland and Turkey.
